14 of the best things I ate in 2016

1

From Michelin star to PFC, Here is a very random list of my most memorable things I ate in 2016, it’s a pretty strange selection but these are the dishes that made me go wow, for overall taste and in some cases amazing value.

2016 was a good year for food, with so many options in London I was really spoilt for choice when it came to eating out. It was a year where believe or not I ate out a lot less than usual – thanks to a very busy work year and being on the Lean in 15 lifestyle, (google Joe Wicks) I cooked more of my own food than ever (and lost 1 stone in 4 weeks) and kept that weight off by eating healthier and less.

1. Char Siu lamb ribs, Chi Kitchen, £12.50

These are the single best things that I ate this year. The soft, juicy and tender meat just  melts in the mouth as has so much flavour and just the right amount of sweetness for my liking. I made so rather questionable groaning noises while i was eating this.

2 Set Lunch Menu, Gymkhana, £35 set menu

Was hard to get a table for lunch, but I loved the experience here – The service and was on all on point. By choice of indian restaurant in London.

3 Chicken Jalfrezi Pie, Square Pie, £7.95

Just a pie, but I really liked eating this dish this year. So much so I have my tally at 5 of theses bad boys this year. A soft and flakey crust filled with a tasty chicken curry filling.

4 Cap of Rump Steak, Carne Carbana, £21.95

There’s a lot of meat on show here but once i tried the cap of rump steak cooked medium rare I didn’t to try anything else. The taste and melt on the mouth texture was similar to eating wagyu beef.

5 Proper fries, Proper Burgers, £7 approx

I remember waiting for my food to arrive and noticed that 2 people came in just to order the Proper fries for take away and once i tried it i realised why. A great mash up of pulled beef, cheese can chips with yummy chill.

6 Single Platter, Franzos £12

I have lost count the number of times I have had the grilled chicken form here. Once you eat the chicken here you won’t want to eat nandos every again, the taste and juiciness make this the best chicken I have had this year. Every time I visit the chicken is on point.

7 Breakfast, Moral £6-7

This year I tried a few english breakfasts outside making them myself and Moral is the one place that stands out among everyplace I have tried. The service and staff create a family feel and the is clean and simple with loads of different changeable items.

8 Korean fried chicken, Flesh and Buns, £6.50

Absolutely fantastic, really sticky, spicy and messy but the heat and flavour made these a memorable food dish.

Pretty much anything from, Five Lads

Before there was Franzos there was Five Lads, not to be confused with the burger chain of the similar name. The Chicken here is not at the same level for the similar franzos, but it’s a close second but they also to nice and better burgers.

10 Salt Burger, Dubai

I ate a lot of Burgers in Dubai when I went for the first time this summer. But the stand out was the burger from Salt. It’s simple but so tasty and the location just has the best vibe

11. Devilish Shrimp, Hoppers, £7 approx

12. Lamb and feta pide, Pide £8

This lamb and feta Pide was brilliant. So much flavour and taste from the lamb, I looked it up, turns out they marinade and mix with spices to create that deep taste. Wish there was more in my take away box. Cost is £8.50.

13. Mini Mix Grill, PFC (Stepney Green) £5

Okay, this may be an odd choice, but during ramadan I was in Stepney Green and popped into PFC and noticed a mix grill for £5 so I thought i’d give it a try. Single lamb chop, chicken tikka, mutton tikka, chicken wing and kebab with nan and drink. Have to say it was brilliant, everything was cooked medium rare without asking. Very surprised with that!

14. Chocolate Fondant, Banana Tree £5

I had a lot of desserts this year, mainly on my one cheat day a week, so I would pick carefully what I would have, but the chocolate fondant with coconut ice cream from Banana Tree always was my winner. I don’t think I’ve had better.

Cinnamon Bazaar

0

Cinnamon bazaar is a new opening from the collective group of Cinnamon Indian restaurants. I missed the soft launch where they had 50% off but visit on a Friday night 2 weeks into the main opening. I have to say I did visit on a night where i was really tired from a long week at work and just wanted a chilled night. The place was buzzing and a bit loud, but it’s a Friday night in Covent garden so i can’t really have a moan.

Food

3 Chaats, Papdi, Watermelon and Aloo tikki. £4.50 each

chaats
Papdi, Watermelon and Aloo tikki.

Papdi chaat a mix of crisp wheat, tangy tamarind, yoghurt and chickpea vermicelli. Watermelon chaat, yep sounds strange – Pressed watermelon, amaranth seeds, date chutney, masala cashew nuts. Aloo tikki chaat, a spiced potato cake with curried white peas, chickpeas

The watermelon chaat was something that i have never heard of before, it was certainly different and fresh but an odd combination that didn’t work for my taste. The papdi chaat and aloo tikki were pretty good, nice balance of flavours and use of tamarind which i am a fan of. Prices are reasonable and the portion sizes just about right, maybe could be a tad more.

Mains

Kabuli kofta £10.00

We all shared food between us. Straight away I’m going to say that the Kabuli kofta which were basically spinach balls were really good. The accompanying tomato and fenugreek sauce was really rich in flavour and spice and went perfectly with the texture and taste of the spinach balls. 8/10

Lahore style kadhai chicken £10.50

The Lahore style kadhai chicken with pickled root vegetables was my choice and i liked the presentation, the dish was simple and light, the chicken well cooked but the overall dish lacked that punch. 6.5/10

Malabar boatman’s haddock curry £13.50

The fish dish was an haddock curry with kokum, green mango chutney, i found the strong natural flavours of the haddock overpowering and the sauce a bit too tangy. The least prefered dish on the night. 4/10

The service was okay, it got busy and hard to get the attention of waiters, when are main waiter was not available we tried to ask another waiter a question and he could not understand english very well. We ended up also asking for the service charge to be removed, as i think the priced up enough as it was and if the service is optional, then why would i pay extra if i don’t have to!

Overall, it was a okay food experience which left me thinking that recently the non meat dishes i’ve been eating have tasted the best.

With so many other places around I don’t think i’d ever come back. I was put off with the fact that there was pork on the menu, which i didn’t know prior to booking, had i known, i would not have come whereas its personally off putting.

Darbaar

0

It was my mums birthday and in our small family we always go out for dinner, I asked my mum where she wanted to go she said the local indian restaurant, bless her she always wants the simple things but i thought i’d take her and the family out for something a little more upmarket and try Darbaar,

Venue

Located near Liverpool St station, Darbaar is a Indian restaurant that has recently won the best newcomer at the British curry awards 2016. The venue feels like it’s part of that corporate banking world and the seems like it is definitely aimed for that market.

Arriving on a Monday night, we found ourselves the only diners seated in the spacious eating area with a view into the open kitchen. The decor is modern and has a upmarket feel. They even have a fancy futuristic lavatory with more buttons that my car, worth checking out.

Menu

There were a lot of options on the menu, from the al la carte to the different set menus, after some decisioning making the 4 of us managed to figure out what to order. We are a family that doesn’t eat much and my parents are very simple people that are not too fussy when it comes to food.

Food

HARYALI DATE & SAMOSA CHAAT (V) £5.00

The best thing we ate on the night was this dish. I loved the freshness of the ingredients and flavours of mint with the sweetness of the dates, there’s a different taste experience with each bite, the texture of the samosa, the pomegranate and the aniseed. One of the chaats i have had.

AMRITSARI SPICED CALAMARI FRITTERS £6.50

These felt a bit too chewy and didn’t feel like they were cooked well,

darbaar7

TANDOORI GOBI ADRAKI WITH CORIANDER CHUTNEY (V) £9.00

Yeah look at that picture..4 pieces of cauliflower…with some spices and they charging £9, so you think these better rock my world… no, they didn’t, they where as about as standard as a naan, i felt my dad just looking at me think what the hell is this

darbaar5

ABDUL’S PLATTER OF ASSORTED GRILLS & KEBABS (FOR 2) £28.00

This platter came with a mix of  – TANDOORI SALMON, LAMB SHEEKH, CHICKEN TIKKA and PANNER. The chicken – NO taste what so ever, definitely not marinated in any spices might as well have just some chicken and suck in under a grill flame then serve. Lamb Sheekh kebab, theres were decent, very thick, not too dry, but it needed more spice that what was presented. The Panner.. well i couldn’t really taste anything other than the raw milky cheese undertone. The salon was the only thing that had a strong sense of flavour and spice.

darbaar8

PUNJABI SPICED KENTISH LAMB CHOPS £28.00

The presentation was impressive and the accompanying extras like the  saag sauce where a nice touch. However, at a cost of £9 per chop I was expecting something thick, juicy, flavoursome and melt in your mouth. With the first bite i was filled with disappointment. The lamb was overcooked, medium well, so it was too dry, which means the natural flavours of the lamb were not existent. There was very little taste of spice from the actually lamb.

darbaar12

KASHMIRI LAMB LEG ROGAN JOSH £20.00

I was hoping for a really kick ass curry, but again let down with this dish. I know it’s a tomato based curry but it was over powered with a strong tomato taste, which really and a strong bitter acidic aftertaste, whilst at the same time being very salty. No spice, no flavour. Just awful.

darbaar9

BIRYANI HYDERABADI SPICED DARBAAR SPECIAL KID GOAT BIRYANI £18.00

This was my dad’s dish and as biryani go this was just okay. I found it to light and fluffy for my liking and like with most of the mains just fell short of having enough taste and that special something. There wasn’t enough meat in this dish either.

darbaar11

Service was an interesting one. When I arrived I was told by the woman at the door that no one at my party had arrived, but when i called my brother he said he was already seated. Our waiter, a man with a very strong Italian accent was happy Chappy and seemed to be singing to himself a lot! It was hard for my parents to understand what he was saying at times. He also began clearing our table without asking and while we were still eating. I also made arrangements for my mum to get the standard happy birthday treat at the end, which took too long for it to happen. We ended up just sitting waiting trying to get the attention of service staff to move things on.

I ordered a range of items hoping to sample and experience a range of different cooking skills from the food, however I was very disappointed with almost everything I ate (apart from the chaat)

With prices like the ones found here I was expecting a standard similar to ones of Trishna or Gymkhana and I was using these places as a benchmark. Darbaar fell far from achieving the same culinary standards set by similar and comparable venues.

If you work in banking and wear a suit, maybe you will like it, i looked around and noticed that the people eating there were all in suits and over 40. I work in media and wear trainers to work – maybe I like a different vibe, but really didn’t enjoy it much.

The food is definitely catered for the corporate environment, light food with minimal taste. The kind where you can go for a corporate lunch and come back to your desk without feeling like you need a nap. I really was expecting more, but the food here was some of the poorest indian food I have had. Would definitely NOT recommend.

Also, my mum and dad whose opinion of indian food i trust share my views, they weren’t happy with the food, but did enjoy the surprise cake at the end.

Almost forgot, the total bill came to just under £140, with no drinks, which comes to £35pp. Not really worth it in my opinion.

The prices of some of the dishes borderlines on the  almost ridiculous. For example, £28 for lamb chops, i’m expecting a much better quality cut of lamb, i know it’s not lamb season, but it was average at best. The same goes for the grill platter, it’s just makes me angry when a place like this thinks it can get away with charging these prices and serve up mediocre food. I’d take the food from lahore kebab house any day from this.

Although we finished all the food, we did so because the portion sizes were very small. Didn’t bother with dessert as the poor food put us all off. Although , the birthday cake square was good.

Unfortunately I was unable to speak with head chef Abdul, I just arrived just as he left wishing my mum a happy birthday.

Rustix Gourmet

8

If you live around East London like me then you are lucky to be blessed with loads of decent halal places to eat and many of those are Burger and steak joints that have similar menus and vibes.

Rustix Gourmet is the new boy on the scene just down the road from the others boyz on the block Fat Boyz, review here.

Venue
Having been open for just 2 weeks I thought I’d pay them a visit on a Saturday night. There are 2 floors, the upstairs same level as the kitchen and bar and the bottom floor, smaller space but a slightly better atmosphere. I arrived and the place was packed but I and my partner in crime were shown a table for 4 people within a few mins downstairs. What you notice straight away is the attention to detail of the decor, the place really does have a rustic American feel, from the wooden theme to the vintage signs around the walls. So points for creating a nice atmosphere and spending the time and effort on the decor. If you do sit downstairs the small space does make it more intimate and a little louder, especially if someone walks or runs up the wooden stairs.

I liked the simple nature of the menu, spilt in obvious sections and concise options to pick from.

Food

So let’s begin talking about the food for starters I opted for the lamb chops and buttermilk chicken filet strips.

Lamb Chops Part 1
Lamb Chops Part 1

The lamb chops were a bit of a disaster. The presentation was good but the execution of the cooking was just bad. I requested medium rare and made sure that the person that took my order understood what medium rare ment. What I received was lamb chops well done, dry, overcooked and chewy. I sent these back after one bite and asked for medium rare as ordered.

Part 2
Part 2

When they the new order arrived for the second time…guess what same thing happened again, lamb chops were well done! Turns out my order went to the table next to me and I actually noticed that the guy next to my table and juicy pink chops! More about this later. 2/10

rustic5

The chicken dippers weren’t anything to write home about, i think they could have done with more spices and seasoning during the cooking process. 5/10

rustic6

Chilli beef was also ordered from the side menu, rustix cut chips topped with chili beef and cheese. These were slightly overcooked on the oven grill which caused the beef to dry out and almost turn into a dry Indian keema style topping. The chili was not very flavoursome for my liking, just felt a bit dry and weak in the intensity of taste. 5/10

I ordered the Single version of the MckBurger, which is a pretty simple burger, beef patty, double cheese with their house sauce, i also added caramelised onions as an extra. The burger was surprisingly good. I actually really liked it a lot, the meat patty was simple in flavour, but what i liked was it was cooked on a flat iron grill making it moist as the natural juices are not lost during the cooking phase. The bad point was the bread on the bun was cold, despite being clearly toasted on the grill, but the bun itself was soft with a slight sweetness to it. I think my custom addition of added the caramelised onions added that sweetness that I really like in burgers. I’d give the burger a 7.5/10

rustic7

The mojito arrived after the starters and was poor, no way enough use of mint or lime, it lacked any kick, sweetness or mojito taste. As you can see from the photo there is barely and mint in the glass and just a tiny lime! 3/10

Service
There was a long wait for food to arrive, 20mins after ordering and my drink arrived after I asked and after the starters arrived. The lamb chops accident was a massive fail. It seems that food getting send to incorrect tables. When it came to paying, the owners first of all didn’t know my identity and ripped up the bill and said the food was on the house. They said that the service and experience was not up to scratch. They also mentioned that they knew they cocked up the lamb chops the second time and sent it to the table next to me and they said they actually saw me clocking that! At this point they asked me not to base a review upon this visit and to try again, which at the time I agreed to. However, 2 weeks later I’m writing this review.

Overall the decor of this place is worth checking out and the burger I had was pretty tasty and enjoyable. I’m sure with time they can iron out service issues and have a good place for people to dine at. Despite having so many mistakes with the service that fact that they gave the meal on the house was a good touch and they really wanted me to come back for the “experience” as eating more than just food.

Sometimes you see you work non-muslim friends post or talk about an epic burger they had and you get food envy because you know that burger won’t be halal, but one day you decide and ask if they have any halal options and booyah, you get the news that chicken is halal. Sold.

Located off oxford st, opposite Chi Kitchen, you will find the hipster cool Meat Liquor where all the male staff have the same beard 🙂 First of all, this place is dark and loud. So if you are not into that type of scene then this place won’t be your thing. Next, there’s no reservations for small groups so be prepared to queue up outside and then wait at the bar once inside.

Lucky, I was seated at the back where it was a little less noisy and away from the crowd. I have to apologise for the poor pictures here, the place is really dark!

The food came all at once so here is how it went down.

Braai Wings – £5.00 / Not sure of they are still in the menu now

South African-style BBQ chicken wings, dry-rubbed with spices and chargrilled. Has a fiery kick. Not that good, they were excessively char-grilled which left an overpowered burnt taste with each bite. 5/10

HIPPIE FRIES (V) 5.50

My partner in food crime told me that she heard that the Hippie fries were really good so we got those. These were epic and sooo good. It’s basically fries, grilled onions and hippie sauce. I love the grilled onions and sauce all over the chips, it was so unhealthy but I think a treat every now and then is not bad. 9/10

A photo posted by Halal Food Guy (@halalfoodguy) on

DIRTY CHICKEN CHEESEBURGER – 8.75

All the chicken burgers are the same price, which i liked. I opted for the Dirty Chicken Cheeseburger – deep fried chicken fillet, mayo, lettuce, cheese, red onions – a classic chicken burger. To be fair, this was a good burger but nothing amazing, just slightly better than a KFC burger, the chicken and ingredients were fresh but it was just too simple and no different to the burgers you can get a good pfc. 6/10

TOWER BLOCK BURGER = 8.75

We also got the tower block burger, fried chicken fillet with cheese, hash brown, jalapeños, slaw, onions & russian dressing. It’s very close to the burger above but the small extras really change the taste and overall food experience. The sauce that comes inside really brings all the ingredients together making a really nice burger 8/10.

I’d definitely come back here again for a quick burger and hippe fries, i also heard they have a good dessert menu, when i go next time i’ll be sure to add it on here.

Flesh and Buns

Recently I’ve been looking for different places to eat, places where I’ve never been before or places that serve a style of cuisine that i have not tried before. Since I love chicken and meat so much I was in contact with different casual restaurants and found that many I contacted have halal items on the menu.

It was a Thursday night and I arrived without a reservation at 8pm and had to wait 30mins to get a table, so it’s a popular and busy place. Flesh & Buns, from the team behind Bone Daddies, is located within the busy Seven Dials area in Covent Garden. It’s Inspired by Japanese izakayas, roughly translated as a pub or place designed for informal eating and drinking. All restaurants under the Bone Daddies label serve halal chicken.

Once seated I didn’t hang around and wasted no time in ordering.

KOREAN FRIED WINGS £6.5

I won’t get into too much depth with reviews of the other dishes as this was hands down the best thing I ate here, in fact one of the best wings i’ve ever had in ages. The flavours were rich and powerful made by the spicy sticky sauce that covered the wings. The heat was the right about in spice and definitely the highlight of the meal.  10/10

1/2 YOUNG CHICKEN £13
The good things about the chicken is how well it’s cooked, it was very soft and tender and the texture was great, but that was not enough for me as I really did not take well to the overpowered citrus flavours that were dominant in this dish. Despite being presented well, i did not enjoy this dish at all. 4/10

CHICKEN YAKITORI £4.5

A very simple plate. I felt that the chicken lacked much endeavour when it comes to taste and flavours. It’s just grilled chicken. 5/10

fleshandbuns3

SPICY TUNA ROLL £8.8 / PRAWN TEMPURA ROLL £8

In retrospect, i shouldn’t have ordered the sushi as the focus here is about the steamed buns. Not to say that the sushi was not good, it was fresh and tasted good, but having spent over £16 for 2 sets would have been better spent on more buns and wings.

fleshandbuns4

BONE DADDIES HANDMADE BUNS, TWO FOR £2

fleshandbuns5

CHOCOLATE FONDANT £6.25

Because i didn’t like the main chicken dish i received the chocolate fondant on the house. It was presented in a unique way, but it was a average dessert. For me the fondant was too soft and light, i prefer it a light more harder and sticky.

fleshandbuns9

Our server was really friendly and attentive during the meal, so service gets 2 thumbs up from me.

So if you are looking for something a bit different to the usual halal offerings, i’d definitely suggest this place, just make sure you get the wings and buns and be adventurous with trying other dishes.

Chicken and foxes (closed)

0

When a restaurant changes its suppliers due to demand then surely that’s a positive thing for the halal food industry. Serving up free range rotisserie chicken is Chicken and Foxes located opposite Baker Street station and one door down from Barista Bros.

I remember going in here a 6 months ago asking if they did halal, the answer was no at the time, but since then they said that every day they get people asking so they decided to cater for the halal consumer.

chickenandfoxes1

As you can see the menu is as simple as you ever going to get.

I opted for the ½ chicken spicy with roast potatoes and chips. I went on a friday night with a mate and the place was totally empty so the atmosphere was pretty dead. Not to worry as I was meeting a friend for a long overdue catch up so the peace and quiet in a busy city was welcomed.

The food arrived quickly. The chicken leg was cooked well, it was soft and had a decent level of juiciness to it, but i was not too impressed with the spice or flavour, i found lacking any real kick or taste. The chicken breast suffered from being really dry and bland. I found it hard to eat and ended up wasted a lot of it was it was not enjoyable to eat. The roast potatoes were awful, they were not cooked right at all, felt like they were reheated in a microwave from already being undercooked.

The service was okay at the start, but once we got our food we were never checked back on to see if everyone was okay. At the end of the meal i informed them about the lame roast potatoes and they took it off the bill.

My friend had the chicken salad, they have it a 5.5/10

I’d sick to nandos, but since there’s nothing similar in the area then hey it’s not a totally bad choice if you want something healthy-ish, but with burgerista next door, i know where i’d end up if i was in the area.

Carne Carbana (CLOSED)

2

This restaurant is now closed down.

Carne Carbana is a new restaurant that offers a Brazilian BBQ experience with a fully halal and HMC menu located in the Shoreditch and Bethnal Green area.

At the time of writing this, Carne Carbana is the only fully halal Brazilian restaurant within zone 1 to 3 in London.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Upon entering you will notice a strong wooden theme and the flames and heat of the BBQ in the centre of the restaurant. I was seated downstairs where there are a lot more seats than the top floor, the downstairs also felt like it had a better atmosphere and also has a large booth for big groups or families.

Once seated, the menu and concept was explained, it’s straight forward; buffet style all you can eat on the meat side, you pick 3 sides and get a soft drink for £21.95

Menu
Menu

The sides arrived very quickly and between the 2 of us there were 6 sides, plus a salad and gravy. At this point the table was looking pretty packed with a range of food. The sides were a bit hit and miss, the good stuff was the curly fries, mash and beef stew, I was not to keen on the rice, it was a bit dry and didn’t taste great, also the coleslaw was way too creamy. My advice is not to eat too much of your sides.

Sides
Sides

Now the magic happens, once you get your sides you press a button on the middle of your table which lights it up green, which means bring me the MEAT! When you have had enough or want a break turn it off, it might sound like gimmick but i loved the interaction and it actually worked, i found myself feeling full and turning it off, then when feeling like one extra bit i would be turning it on again.

The meat is carved fresh off skewers on you your plate, the order of the meat was random, there was no case of bringing out the cheaper cuts of meat first so you get full on that.

I tried a range of chicken, beef and lamb. The chicken wings both BBQ and Chili were great, amazing texture and flavour 9/10 for the BBQ wings and 8/10 for the chilli.

There were 2 types of beef I tried the Rump steak which was cooked to a requested medium rare. Then i tried what was the showstopper of the night, a cut of beef that i had never heard of nor ate before, the Cap of rump. In Brazil, the most prized cut of meat, despite having the name rump, it’s actually sirloin. What made this meat so good was the FAT. Combined with the taste of the BBQ grill the fat just melted in the mouth and the flavours that came from it where just out of this world. It is very rich in flavour and was an absolute treat for my taste buds. This reminded me of eating wagyu beef, as that melt in the mouth texture was very similar.

carnecarbana28
Cap of Rump

Meats are cooked fresh and brought out when ready, so because of this there are gaps between receiving food which makes you eat less as you don’t have all the food on your plate to eat at once.

Our server was great! He always asked us what we wanted and how we would like meat cooked and also made recommendations. He remembered what I liked after trying something for the first time and kept coming back with a second, third and fourth helping!

Grilled Pineapple! Was actually good!
Grilled Pineapple! Was actually good!

I was not expecting to enjoy myself as much as I did here but I did! I loved the simple magic button, maybe i’m a big kid inside but I would come back here just to eat that Cap of Rump as it was soo good.

I think you are given too many sides to start off with and the portion sizes are too big, I would prefer a small platter of sides, that way I can sample different sides and not waste food as I wasted a lot of the sides which i did not like. But I am a small eater and can’t complain too  much that portion sizes were too big!

Service was friendly, attentive and efficient. We were constantly looked after during the meal and a special mention to our Brazilian server who really looked after us. They didn’t know I was Mr Halal Food Guy until the end of the meal. Value wise, not so bad, you get a large portion of sides, a soft drink and all you can eat meat for £21.95

I was invited to eat here, the meal was on the house.

Med Bar

Found a great spot in Soho for lunch. £5 chicken and halloumi salad with couscous. It’s close to the popular savage salads but this is much better. Very close to the Masjid there. Recommended for lunch. Chicken confirmed halal from staff. Its now one of my go to places for lunch in Soho, the food is always fresh and really filling. They also make freshly prepared Gözleme as well.

Salad box £5.

Square Pie (closed)

RESTAURANT CLOSED DOWN

I love this place! With all the food options to chose from in Westfield I always seem to find myself eating here. The chicken jalfrezi pie (halal) from Square Pie in Westfield, Stratford.
I have to say it was brilliant and simple comfort food. Im don’t eat many pies, bit it was the best pie I’ve had! I have had it 5 times this year. You can pick 2 sides and a really authentic tasting curry pie for £7.95
