Sawadika (that’s hello in Thai) People! Back once again discovering the newest restaurants which halal options first for you. A good Halal Thai Restaurant in London.
I checked out a new Thai restaurant in Chinatown @chalida_thai I’ve been Thailand a few times and love Thai food, right off the bat I have to say the food here was very authentic and some dishes reminded me of food I had in Thailand
The halal bit: There are 2 menus, the first menu is the standard food menu. All meat is halal here, chicken, beef and duck. However, some items contain alcohol like a whole chicken that they set on fire at the table!
There’s another menu where you can order a massive hot pot and cook it at your table. This looked pretty epic but our server said its better to keep to one menu as the hot pots are very big and filling (pork is on this menu and also in one of the broths. However it handled separately and only cooked by customers and not in the Kitchen)
The main food menu has a lot of options and features the usual Thai dishes found in typical restaurants. But there were also some other options as well, I ordered a lot here are my thoughts on my favs
Bao buns. Beef and chicken, my favourite was the chicken thigh baos, not many places where you can get Halal baos these days £4.95 each
The chef’s special sea bass was reminiscent of a dish I had in Thailand once. A whole steamed bass in a spicy flavoursome lemongrass sauce. A very good dish £15.95
Tamarind Duck. Not a dish I’ve tried before, it was sweet and balanced well and had a nice texture from the crispy fried noodles £12.75
Clay pot noodles £9.95 glass noodles with chicken and prawn served in a very hot clay pot! Lacked flavour but easily fixed with all the extra sauces they give you.
Oh nearly forgot about the desserts. I got mango rice and the mango cheesecake. Both yum!
Definitely recommend this place for authentic Thai food. Good for friends, large groups, catch up, casual date night.
My meal was complimentary and thoughts my own.
