Last Updated on November 1, 2026 by Halal Food Guy
For ten years people have asked me the same question in my DMs: where should I eat? So I put the answer in one place. The Halal Food Guy Map is a free halal food map of London with every restaurant I’ve personally reviewed on it, each one with my honest score out of 10, a short verdict and my photos.
It isn’t a directory scraped from the internet. Every spot on the free map is somewhere I’ve actually been and eaten at, from peri-peri in Ilford to steak in Leytonstone and Malaysian in the West End. There are 266 of them on the map right now, out of 482 halal restaurants I’ve reviewed in London since 2016 (203 of those have since closed, so they’re off the map).
This guide shows you how to use it, what the free version does, what you get with Pro, and why it’s a big step up from my old Google Map.

What is the Halal Food Guy Map?
It’s a halal restaurant map of London that works in any browser, on your phone or your computer. There’s nothing to download and you don’t need an account. Open halalfoodmap.app and you’ll see every halal spot I’ve reviewed as a pin on the map, with a list underneath that you can search, filter and sort.
Tap any pin and you get my score, my one-line verdict, the full review, photos, whether alcohol is served, the address and a button for directions. When I review somewhere new it goes straight onto the map, so it’s always up to date.
How to use the halal food map (free)
Everything in this section is completely free. No sign-up, no trial, no catch.
1. Search for what you’re craving
Start typing in the search bar: burger, steak, Turkish, brunch, Malaysian or the name of a restaurant. The pins and the list filter as you type, so you only see the halal spots that match. Search “burger” and you get the 29 halal burger places I’ve reviewed, ranked by my score.

2. Filter by area, budget, cuisine and score
Tap Filters to narrow it down. You can pick an area of London (Central, East, North, South or West), a budget per person (from under £15 to £50+), one or more cuisines, a minimum score, and how recently I visited. It shows you how many spots match before you apply it.

3. Tap any spot for my honest score and review
Every restaurant card leads with my score out of 10 and a one-line verdict, then the full review behind “Expand and read full review”. You’ll also see when I visited, the price band, whether alcohol is served, useful extras like a masjid nearby, my photos, the address, a Directions button and a link to my Instagram review. If you’ve been yourself, you can add your own rating out of 10 too.
My scores are honest. If somewhere was disappointing, the score says so. You can read exactly how I score on the Scoring tab.

4. Find halal food near you
Out and about and hungry? Tap Near me, allow your location, and the list sorts itself by distance, closest first. It’s the quickest way to find a good halal restaurant near you without scrolling through hundreds of Google reviews.

5. Let the restaurant finder choose for you
Can’t decide? Tap Find a place to eat, tell it who you’re eating with (just you, a date, family or friends), your budget and the area, and it picks the best match from my reviews. The free version shows your top match; Pro shows your top 3.

6. Save your favourites to My list
Tap the bookmark on any restaurant to save it to My list, so your shortlist is there next time you open the map. Free users can save up to 10 places.
7. Add it to your home screen
You can install the map like an app, straight from your browser, with no app store. On iPhone open it in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android open it in Chrome, tap the menu, then Install app. It then opens full screen from your home screen, just like a normal app. There’s a step-by-step guide for every device at halalfoodmap.app/install.

More free features
- Community tab: see the places my followers rate highest and vote for where I should review next.
- Closed restaurants: the 203 halal restaurants I’ve reviewed that have since closed are listed separately, so you never travel to somewhere that’s gone. (I wrote about it here: almost half of the halal restaurants I’ve reviewed have closed.)
- Share: send any restaurant, or your saved list, to a friend in one tap.
- Dark mode for late-night food hunts.

Why it’s better than my old Google Map
Before this, the way to get my list was my paid Google Map: a saved list in Google Maps with my halal spots pinned on it. It did the job, but a pin on Google Maps can only tell you so much. You could see where a place was, not what I thought of it.

The new map comes in two versions. The free map has every place I’ve personally reviewed. Pro has all of those plus everything else that was on the Google Map, including around 300 places I haven’t visited yet. Either way, it’s a big step up:
- My scores and reviews are built in. Every reviewed spot has my score out of 10, my verdict and my photos. The Google Map was just pins.
- You can search and filter by what matters. Craving, area, budget, cuisine, score, and in Pro halal status and alcohol. On Google Maps you’d have to tap through pins one by one.
- Sort by the best. Top rated first, or nearest first. Google Maps lists can’t rank places by my scores.
- Know before you go. Every card shows whether alcohol is served, and Pro adds halal status, alcohol and HMC filters.
- My reviewed places are now free. The Google Map was a paid product. Every place I’ve reviewed is now on the free map, and Pro (£6.99 one-off) has everything the Google Map had, including the places I haven’t visited yet, plus my category scores and the advanced filters.
Bought my Google Map? You get Pro free
If you bought my Google Map (any order up to 16 October 2026), you don’t need to pay again. Go to halalfoodmap.app/?gmap, enter the email address and Order ID from your original Payhip receipt, and Pro unlocks straight away. It’s my way of saying thank you for supporting me early.

No. It runs in your browser at halalfoodmap.app. If you want it on your home screen, you can install it straight from the browser in a couple of taps.
Which areas does it cover?
London: Central, East, North, South and West, plus a few spots just outside, like Ilford, Barking, Romford and Enfield.
