I was in Enfield last weekend after a trip to the Sunday car boot and was in the mood for Turkish. I found a family-run spot that’s very different from your usual grill and kebab places.
This is Esnaf Lokantasi, a canteen cafe style spot. You grab a tray, head up to the counter and pick a main. I went for the lamb shank with potatoes and carrots, and it comes with rice or bulgur, soup, tzatziki, salad, spicy kofte and bread.
It’s a really simple spot, but I liked my lamb shank and the food was proper homestyle Turkish cooking, the kind of food you’d get in a family home rather than a restaurant.
